The Niagara Falls  (summer 2002)

Views from the Canadian side

Horseshoe fall
This is the view from the Canadian side. When I first came to the falls from the U.S. side I was much less impressed. The ship sailing close to the fall is the Maid of the Mist.
A close-up view of the horseshoe fall
This falling wall of water is really impressive!
View from the Maid of the Mist
A look back at the horseshoe fall from aboard the Maid of the Mist (the ship that approaches the fall). Don't get sea-sick!

Views from the U.S. side

Rainbow bridge
This bridge that goes across the Niagara river connects the two countries.

Niagara river
This is how you see one of the streams of the Niagara river that flows into the U.S. Falls from a bridge leading to the Goat Island.

Goat Island
The U.S. side is much less "developed" as a tourist attraction, so it retains more of a "natural look". You can also watch how the water flows toward the fall in several flow s...

Falling down
...and how it falls down!

Bridal Veil viewed from the Cave of the winds
You can take an elevator down on the Goat Island and it brings you right at the bottom of one of the smaller falls called "the Bridal Veil"..

Behind the Horseshoe fall
The main stream of the Niagara river flowing into the Horseshoe Fall. The "smoke" in this picture is not actually smoke, it is the mist coming up from the Horseshoe Fall!

Horseshoe fall
This view is from the Goat Island. Contrary to what I thought when looking from around the Rainbow bridge, it is actually quite impressive too!
